    Description

    WHAT IS THIS ?
IS THE STAMP JUST ISSUED IN URUGUAY TOPIC ROTARY BUT ALSO SEE THE TRAMWAY AND HOTEL IN IMAGE.
The Rotary Club of Montevideo was founded in 1918 on the impulse of Heriberto Percival Coates, an English merchant based in Montevideo who brought two years earlier, after a trip to the United States, the idea of establishing a subsidiary of this international institution in the Uruguayan capital . It was precisely July 12, 1918, when the first meeting was held in halls of the Gran Hotel Pyramides, which was located at 1345 Ituzaingó Street, in the Old City. Precursor. Since its founding, the Rotary Club Montevideo has become a true breeding ground for affiliates in the region and this has allowed the Rotary ideal to spread throughout South America in just a few years. In fact, in 1919 the Rotary Club of Buenos Aires was founded; in 1922 that of Lima; in 1923 those of Rio de Janeiro, Rosario and Valparaíso; in 1924 that of Santiago; in 1925 those of La Plata and San Pablo. And from then on, the growth was extraordinary.
