Description
This is "the finest easy to store bicycle luggage soft case on the planet … lightweight … and accommodates any size and style of bicycle," as stated on the company's website, pikapackworks.comThis soft-sided bike travel case is far superior to the heavy and bulky hard shell bicycle cases that can be seen with travelers at airports.
Lighter, easier to carry, and totally keeps your bike, wheels, and accessories safe when traveling on airplanes, trains, buses
. The other key benefit is that this bike travel case doesn't look like a bike travel case. This can save hundreds of dollars every time you travel with your bike with airlines that have an extra, required "bike fee" (typically 0 each way), when you check your bags for your flight and the airline agent sees that you're traveling with a bike. In fact, the owner/designer/craftsman of Pika Packworks has named this bicycle travel case the Exercise Equipment Pack, or EEP, to help avoid these extra bike fees - that is, when you check in for your flight, if the agent asks "what's in the bag?" you can simply answer that it's an Exercise Equipment Pack and that you're traveling with exercise equipment (a truthful answer), and you can avoid the crazy-high bike fees.
This bag is the Stretch size: 50″ long x 30″ tall x10″ thick, which is just 2" taller than the Standard size. My XL road/grave bike (size 60) fits nicely. Bikes ranging from XS to XL will fit in this bag. And the bag is light, 11.55 lbs empty.
Both sides have deep pockets, a big one on each side for wheels and a small one on each side for stuff. There are thicker, tougher pieces of nylon on both the pockets and the walls where hubs could potentially poke through the inner and outer walls of the case. Protective patches are also on the outside to prevent the bag from being fatally rubbed in these spots.
The cost of a new bag direct from Pika Packworks is 3.
