Description
Gorgeous ornate Victorian/Edwardian black fur stole with intricate Soutache medallions and tassels made from silk ribbons and thread, with a silk lining. From what I see from the era, it is possibly Black fox but I don't know that that is the case. It is incredibly soft, luxurious and long, but what the actual fur is I just don't know. There are a few very minimal losses on the Soutache tassels were the base string shows through as shown but nothing noticeable without a closeup. I did find two small tears ( one about 2" and one 1") in the silk lining as shown not holes, just tears, in other words easy to fix, infect to show them I had to gently coax them open so they would even show in the photos. I didn't have a surface to lay it fully open, but the length from the middle of the neck to the end on the fur before the tassels it is 28", so approximately 56" long, and if you take the measure from the middle neck to tassels ends it measures 36" so approximately 72" long. As far as the width is is approximately 9" at the widest point at the nape of the neck, and it tapers down until 6" before the fringe. It has a Soutache "hook and eye like closure with multiple "eyes" so can be adjusted to either fit closer to the neck or drop to show some shoulder. NOTE this is meant to hang straight down on either side, the first photo where I flipped one side over the other was just to show get more of it in the photo. The image of it on the hanger is how it actually hangs.Very fashionable, wearable, and in great condition. From my personal collection in a non smoking home. Purchased in the early 1970s and and was carefully stored away since then. It is a stunner.
